MR60 - unable to find wireless printer

Hi, I just installed the Netgear Nighthawk MR60 mesh wifi router and I'm having connecting to my Brother 2270DW wireless printer.

I have already tried to factory reset the printer and rebooted both the printer and the router by unplugging them for a minute.

I am able to connect the printer to the network by WPS and the printer confirms by printing a page that shows my SSID and says "CONNECTION OK". I am able to print a network diagnostic page from the printer and it shows that it has a local IP address (192.168.1.xx). When accessing the router from another device, I can confirm that the printer's IP address is listed under connected devices. However, none of my devices are able to detect the printer. I have tried installing the printer driver given by the manufacturer's website but it keeps saying no devices found. I've even tried repeating this process with the printer connected to the router by ethernet cable, and none of my other devices are able to detect it. I've also looked through the router settings to make sure access point mode is disabled.

Are there any other settings that I need to change to connect to my printer? The MR60, for some reason, is blocking any other devices from finding it. I am easily able to detect my printer when using my previous Asus AC1900 router. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello coro,

The driver or the discovery utilities discover the Brother printers (resp. printer servers) on the node name as it appears on the Printer Settings Page. The default Node name of the network card in the printer is " BRNxxxxxxxxxxxx" for a wired network or "BRWxxxxxxxxxxxx" for a wireless network interface. This could indicate that (in my wild guess) the NetBIOS name resolution based on broadcasts might be blocked why ever. Most other recent printer make use of UPnP SSDP eg. for Windows and Bonjour for the Apple world - both Multicast based.

  • We had a similar issue with our HP Photosmart, which I know is different but we had to update the firmware of the printer by connecting to the printer through the USB cable and going to the website and downloading the firmware updater. Perhaps there's a similar process with Brother?
