If other devices work as expected, that suggests that the Mesh network is behaving as expected. I'd start by looking at these new devices and try to work out why they don't connect. 

Laptops and mobile devices can now come with settings that get on the way of a smooth connection. They do this by using a "spoof" Mac address that the wifi doesn't like.

Laptops may use Windows in which case you need to look at their network settings for clues. That also has an option to use variable Mac addresses.
