What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
- wow2007Nov 22, 2022AspirantHi,
Firmware version is v1.1.7.12.
My xfinity modem is an arris model # TG862G/CT. I am using a cat6 between xifinjty modem and nighthawk mr80.
My home is 1700 sq feet. router and satellite is 30 feet apart.
I changed the channel to 6 for 2.4 ghz and 48 for 5ghz since I saw your reply and my internet was okay for about a day. The next morning it slowed down again from 250mbps to 3 mbps. So i unplug then plugged in the router and satellite but this time change the channel to 1 for 2.4ghz and 40 for 5ghz. I did this yesterday morning and the internet was fine the whole day. Today when I woke up, internet was slow again.- FURRYe38Nov 22, 2022Guru - Experienced User
Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers

- wow2007Nov 22, 2022AspirantI had the xfinity modem disable a long time ago. It is modem only. I’ve had it for 6-8 years now. I was using a linksys wifi which was working good but it was old already so I decided to replace it and bought the nighthawk mk83.
