Netgear ms-80 loses signal
Hi, I have a netgear ms-80 satellite in my shop and I wanted to extended my wifi into my shed so I got another ms-80 but when I turn the new satellite on I lose wifi signal. The light goes from blue t...
- Jan 08, 2025So I tried the new ms and it works when the old one is unplugged. I also tried plugging the new ms in my basement while all the other satellites were plugged in and they all worked. So I’m guessing the chain limit of ms satellites is two

The distance from the mr to the ms in the gazebo is probably 50ft or so. The distance from the gazebo to the ms in the shop is probably 200 ft or so. But the one in the shop works perfectly fine I get full bars. These ms’s can connect to each other correct? I currently have 4 ms’s connected to the Mr. On the map of my satellites in the netgear app it shows that the one in the shop is connected to the one in the gazebo. So my thinking was that I could connect the new ms to the one in shop and continue to push the range of the wifi out even further.

200 feet, wow, not too sure about that distance. I guess you can try to connect another one to the one in the shop and see. There maybe some wifi performance degradation.
Be sure FW on all MS are updated and the same version as whats on the MR.
- SchellsbeerDec 30, 2024AspirantSo that’s where my issues occurs, is when I try to connect my new Ms to the current one in the shop. The signal cuts out and I have to turn the new Ms off to get the wifi back. I was just wondering why this happens and if it’s a result of the two ms’s trying to connect to each other if they’re fighting for the better signal or if it’s because I can only have 4 ms satellites?

What happens if you replace one of the working ones with the new one? Does it maintain?
And FW is up to date on the new MS?
I see this:

- SchellsbeerDec 31, 2024AspirantSo I tried replacing the new one with the one I have in the shop and it connected and had a blue light but after about 10 min or so the signal dropped and turned orange. So could this be an issue with the new satellite or having too many satellites in a daisy chain? And yes I checked the firmware and it is up to date.
