NIGHTHAWK MESH AX1800 MK63S WONT CONNECT USING ADTRAN MODEM

I HAVE A NETGEAR NIGHTHAWK MESH SYSTEM (AX1800. MK63S).

FOR THE PAST YEAR IT HAS WORKED FINE AND WAS CONNECTED TO A COMTREND MODEM PROVIDED BY MY ISP. THREE WEEKS AGO MY ISP PUT IN AN AdTran UNIT. I THINK IT IS AN SDG 854 MODEL. I FOLLOWED THE PROCEDURE ON THE NIGHTHAWK APP AN HOOKED THE NIGHTHAWK TO THE NEW MODEM (WITH THE TECH STANDING THERE).

IT WENT ONLINE, THE LIGHT TURNED BLUE, AND MY CELL PHONE AND SMART TV'S CAN SEE BOTH THE NEW MODEM AND THE NIGHTHAWK SYSTEM, HOWEVER NOTHING WILL CONNECT, STREAM OR ANYTHING WHEN THE NIGHTHAWK SYSTEM IS SELECTED. SWITCH BACK TO AdTran AND EVERYTHING WORKS. I USE THE NIGHTHAWK MESH TO PROVIDE WIFI TO MY SHOP AND OUTSIDE. HELP!!!

    That looks like a Gateway, a modem/router.

     

    Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local problems with addresses on your network. Among other things, the other router can misdirect traffic to addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual default IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.

    This explains some of the other drawbacks.

    Unless you have specific reasons for using two routers – to create two separate networks for example – it is often easier to use just one router and then to set up the second router as a wifi access point (AP) with a wired connection to the main router. Netgear advises this, as does just about every site you will visit.

    But that has its own drawbacks:

    It may be possible to put the modem/router into modem only (bridge) mode and then to use the second device as the router.

     

    Just another user with time on their hands.
