Mostly a wall of glass sliding doors with maybe 10% stucco exterior. Not sure of the insulation, but it's mostly just glass.

I am having his issue as well. It is not a modem issue as I am able to get online via wired connection to the router and the base is reporting full speeds via the built in speed test or the wired device. It appears to be happening with just wifi. So far I have verified it’s happening for both base and satellite and it’s happening for both wireless and wired back haul.

I just purchased the MK62 and am having the same issues. Wired working fine, Wifi says connected no internet. Also would like to say all Android wifi devices working fine. Linux wifi working fine. Only Windows 10 laptop is failing on wifi periodically. Wired connection to the Windows 10 laptop working fine. Windows 10 up to date and Netgear mesh router up to date. My 10 year old Linksys worked just a week ago.

Hello mrob, Jamma00785, & Cletus,
May you try disabling AX and/or traffic meter to see if there are any improvements.
Thanks,
Christian

The traffic meter is off for me. And AX is now disabled. Christian_R
So I have more info here to post. What I have found is the Windows 10 laptop is getting an incorrect ip address. When the laptop gets this "connected no internet" msg, the ip address is not in my network. So per Netgear support I am to force this MAC Address to have a fixed IP Address. No status to report on how this is working just yet.

It's most likely not getting one - much more to does not receive an interface configuration from the DHCP server operating on the router. Windows 10 and many other decent OS fall-back to self-assigned Zeroconfig network addresses. from the 169.254.0.0/16 block. This indicates a connectivity issue between the computer and the router, or the computer with the satellite and the router.

This won't help, unless you want the router assign always the same IP address to the computer/device based on the MAC address. Needless to say, this requires a reliable connection beteen coputer and router.

To add to this... I disconeected the satellite which I initially thought resolved the issue but apparemntly not. I get a Wi-Fi "Self-Assigned IP" error several times a day and either need to reboot the modem or turn the Wi-Fi off and back on to correct it.

Well it been about a week now with no issues. The laptop is now getting a fixed ip address based on the mac address. The symtoms have dissappeared so I consider this workaround an acceptable solution.
- JpbaasMar 10, 2020InitiateHi, I have the same problem. Signal strenght is 100% and no signal loss. Meanwhile my sonos speaker is losing connection en stops playing for a few seconds. Our iphone 11 keeps om switching between the netgear wifi and 4g because of lost connection.

My wife and I are having the same issue with our Windows 10 computers. How do you reserve an IP address based off of MAC address?
Thanks

Hi Christian_R
How do I disable AX? I followed previous instructions found online, but I do not see the Check Box when I login to routerlogin.net
Thanks,
Tim

An update after 4 months of use. After the initial issue (windows 10 laptop getting invalid ip address for network) the router and satellite have been working fine. Just that one laptop had issues. Once I forced the laptop to a static ip address all has been well.
However, the other day the router had a red led and no device had any internet working. Netgear is now sending me a new router. At least that is happening, but at the moment I have my old linksys running openwrt just fine, but the satellite router is not connecting. Does anyone know what the default IP Address is of the satellite router so that I might manually configure it to my old linksys router?
Thanks in advance
- schumakuJun 23, 2020Guru - Experienced UserMost consumer Mesh satellites are using proprietary controls for the mesh establishment. The Netgear Nighthawk Mesh system does use the WiFi EasyMesh standard. If your router would support WiFi EasyMesh, the satellite could establish a Mesh with your other router.
Neither proprietary Mesh not WiFi EasyMesh satellites can work as standalone extenders or access points. - SpikemustangJun 25, 2020Aspirant
I have been having the same issue as everyone else has been. It seems to happen when you got from room to room, and the satetlitles pick up the connection. One will show no internet connection through wifi, dropping it and reconnecting helps but if you go to another part of the house and the other satelillte picks it up, it drops again. Have two people in the house and sometimes one will work fine and the other wont. I check through the app on my phone and when the other is showing no internet connection, I can see it connected through the app with an ip address but it doesnt show an internet connection on the phone. When I first got it we had no issues, then got the firmware update of V1.0.4.96_2.0.41 and all the sudden any wifi device will do this if its one that you can move from room to room. Extremely disappointed in this and the proposed suggestions of turning off AX, as many mentioned what was the point in upgrading to these capabilities when you have to turn it off to make it work. I have my devices already with static ips assigned and still get the same issue. Unfortunate for me I threw away the box already as I have had many netgear routers over the years and never had as many issues as I have had with this one and the random no internet connection.
Im thinking that since this issue has been going on now since February, it definitely does not sound like Netgear is likely to fix the problem. Will be contacting Costco where I bought it through to see if I can return it without the box which they are usually good about. This "New" mesh router has turned out to be complete garbage. I should have kept my older model Orbi instead but was having a lot of issues with neighbors on the same channel, tried changing channels and since there was limited channel availability I thought this was a better way to go, but clearly not.
- chrishighJul 04, 2020AspirantSame issue here AND ITS NOT JUST WIFI. Last time my phone’s connection dropped (WiFi 100% but no internet) I confirmed my hunch and turned on my tv which is connected to Ethernet after the router. It had no internet either, for 2 more minutes when it randomly came back. I’ve had the same high end modem for 5 years, this is absolutely a problem with this router.

I am not eligible for the 90day premium support but from what I have seen the support was not helpful or supportive at all for anyone. Its just tu rule out standard problems but nothing beyond recognizing that there is asctually a problem with the router software itself.
I can play ping pong on my end. When I put my old router back I have stable internet for a week. When I then switch it between 2-48h I have to powercycle the router due to 1) DHCP server crash (169 IPs suddenly) or 2) internet stops working until I power cycle or 3) cannot remotely control the TV or smart speaker with youtube, spotify, amazon primer, apple TV ...
It would be reallt appreacited (I think speaking for everybody on this thread) if this problem would be properly addressed by the Netgear support team independent of customers and proactively on the router software.
Thank you very much for moving this constructively forward.

Hi Christian_R ,
any updates on your end if this is a recognized problem that will be fixed as it seems to be a general problem?
For the moment (!) I have AX turned off but the reason for having a Wifi 6 router is to use it (and OFDMA).
Thank you for getting back to me on the status.
Dennis

Retired_Member If you're really wanting ofdma, I'd take a look at this.

Thanks plemans
In general this is advertised as having wifi6 and ofdma -- but it seems that there are many problems with it and netgear is not acknowledging that there is a general problem -- this would be the first step so that everybody can even choose if you want wifi6 and ofdma or rather turn it off.
Cheers.

I don't think the ofdma issue is isolated to netgear. Its just not showing a whole lot of current speed improvement and maybe manufacturers aren't putting the extra resources into getting the AX issues resolved.
And the AX issues aren't isolated to netgear either. I've tried both arris and linksys and they haven't been smooth operating on all their devices. Its a new spec and its going to have issues.
But the continued contact does help netgear see whats going on and devote resources to it.

Hi Dennis,
Any news from your side? Any solution from Netgear? I have here a paper weight device waiting for any kind of solution. I had to buy a cheaper TP-Link Deco Mesh, that is working fine (and 100% stable) since then. But I'm still waiting for a solution.

No clear solution so far.
Router and satellite were reset and debug mode is turned on to track down the system -- as I had some issues (next morning the internet was gone - red light) and I had to reboot I still need to send some additional information out.
The weekend gave me a stable system - if it is really another round of firmware upload and reset I would be very surprised but we'll see if the first debug report will help.
Best.
