Wifi speed/bandwidth loss

Hi everyone,

 

I have an MR60 Mesh Wifi Router system with 2 satellites that I've been trying to configure. I'm having couple of issues:

 

1) I'm experiencing about a 65% speed loss off the top as compared to hardwired speed. I'm on Spectrum in Southern California, and when hardwired, I see speeds of ~480mbps. The Netgear Nighthawk app reads the same (see attached). However, on a laptop about 5 feet from the main router, I consistently test between 150 and 190mbps.

2) This effect is magnified by distance. Since the pandemic began I converted my garage into a home office to get some quiet during the work day and I consistently test at about 80mpbs at the garage sattelite, which I would estimate is about 60-75 feet away from the main router.

 

I am starting to get to my wits end trying to solve this issue, as it interferes with video conference quality for my work. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue?

    Are you testing over 2.4ghz or 5ghz? 

    2.4ghz is going to be slower than 5ghz.

    Have you logged into the MK system and checked to see if you're attached to the satellite or the router? 

    You'll see slow speeds attached to the satellite as its a dual band system and not triband. 

    Also what device and site are you speedtesting on?

     

    a little review/testing on the mk60 system. I don't have one so I have to go off the manual and someone else's tests.
