Accessing X8000 Settings when set as Access Point
I bought a XR700 and added my X8000 to the same network as an access point. I noticed today that I have all the SSIDs from the X8000 showing up on my available network list and want to go into the X...

A couple ways to try.
1. connect to the extender either via wifi or ethernet. Type in mywifiext.net
2. Look in the XR700's attached devices list. It should list the ip address for the ex8000. Use this to access it.
Here's the manual for the ex8000 and the XR700

Try these and let us know if they work

Netgear EX8000 or Netger R8000 in AP mode?
Either case, both devices will get IP addresses assigned from the XR700 DHCP server unless you have configured a static IP config for the AP. It's correct that the EX8000 would be reachable under mywifiext.net or mywifiext.com while direct connected to that device by wireless or another LAN port.
What is confusing me why you want to turn off the SSIDs - if disabled, the AP won't be of much use. Should the device in AP mode supporting SmartConnect, and your XR700 is configured for using SmartConnect, then you can re-configure the AP radios to the same SSID (network name), security mode, and wireless security password (WPA-PSK).

What you described at the end is exactly what I want to do. I will read up on SmartConnect - thanks!

Thanks both for your coaching.
I am able to see my X6S Extender using "mywifiext.net" but not the X6 router. Also worth noting, I can both the Extender and the Router on my network map. The X6S shows both a wired and wireless MAC ID. It also shows an IP address for the wireless connection. The Router only shows wired alongside the IP address (which makes no sense to me). I can also access the extender typing the the IP address into my browser however I still cannot doing the same with the Router's IP address.
I have now connected the X6 to the XR700 and used smartsetup on both devices. The X6's settings (SSID, etc.) were not synchronized with the XR700 like the were on the X6S extender. Again, I have the X6 set up as an Access Port.
Any other thoughts?

We missed one.
You're currently going: XR700--->R8000-->EX8000? Thought in the original post that x8000 was the extender but you have the ex8000 AND r8000.
If you put the R8000 in AP mode, you need to have changed its lan address to something within the range that the XR700 is using. So if the XR700 is using 192.168.1.1 (for example), before changing the R8000 over to ap mode, set its lan address as something like 192.168.1.100. that way when you change it over, it pulls and address that is accessible from within the network.

That's a good question. The intent is to go from XR700->EX8000 and XR700->R8000. Essentially using the R8000 as an extender. Interestingly, the addresses all show as 10: something which makes sense. I think you are suggesting that rather than using DCHP that I grab an open address in the 192.168... range. Will give that a try. Thanks again!
