    It  might  be necessary to perform a new setup on the septic system.

    Because each router creates a unique LAN subnet, the IP addresses assigned by this new XR1000 router will be different from the IP addresses assigned by the original XR1000 router.

     

    Ordinarily, we expect computer devices to adapt to changing networks by issuing a new DHCP request ("tell me what IP to use and where the gateway is")  If the septic system has been on line all this time, perhaps it is continuing to use the previous network assignment and is looking for a gateway IP that it can no longer reach.

     

    Before rushing off and resetting the septic system, it might be worth taking a minute to decide how you intend to deal with having "two routers".  i.e. do an internet search on "Double NAT problems".  Most users would rather avoid potential problems in the future by running that second XR1000 in Access Point (AP) mode, which might mean that the septic system will suddenly work again.
