Can the CM1200 and XR500 handle 2 gig internet
I currently have gig internet (1000 down and 40 up) and now I can get 2 gig internet. Can the CM1200 and XR500 handle that? I don't want to pay Xfinity for it if what I have won't handle the speeds...

No. The ports on the CM and XR max at 1000Mpbs.
You'll not see anything over 1Gb on wired or wireless unless you have a router capable of 2.5Gb WAN and LAN and WIFI and your connecting devices, wireless and wired can support 2.5Gb or higher connection rates.
Just gotta have 2Gb services? What's wrong with 1Gb?

The 2GB internet is $5 more a month than I pay for gig internet so thought I would get it. It's pointless to get though if I have to spend another almost $700 to get the XR1000 router and CM2000 modem just to handle it. I've only had the XR500 and CM1200 for about 1.5 years and they cost me around $500. I can't justify spending around $1200 in a two year span on routers and modems.

If 1Gb has been working well for ya then keep it and keep what cha got.
Keep an eye on Amazon, I found my XR1000 used for cheap there. Works great.
