Can't Register NetGear XR500 Router

I purchased a NetGear XR500 router today that was an openbox return and verified that there was nothing wrong with it. So far it seems to be working fine but I can't register tghe serial number it with my account as the previous person must have done that already. Any help from NetGear to get this resolved would be nice as I can't get a support request opened for this as I can't provide the already registered serial number.

  • DarrenM Christian_R BretD could you help with this please? These are Netgear employees that should be able to help you with this so they should see this and get in contact when they're able to. Due to COVID-19 this could be longer than usual.

      There's no need for any help. I understand now why the previous owner returned it. The router clearly isn't working properly as devices on the 2.4 GHz network struggle to get even 10 MBs down and 3 MBs per second up and my ISP supplies 150+MBs down and 50+MBs up. I also can't keep devices connected to the 2.4 GHz network and when they drop off it becomes very difficult to get them back on. I'm guessing the previous owner didn't explain the problem with it to the retail store as they stated they tested it and it is working but clearly thats not the case and there is a problem with it.

       

      I will be returning it today and will look for something else.

        Did the router take you through the setup wizard when you first accessed the interface? If not definitely do a factory reset so you can go through the wizard and get it working for your connection.
