Congestion Control Auto-Setup Keeps Messing Up

I have been trying to troubleshoot some connection problems and wanted to try and get rid of the really bad bufferbloat I had been seeing, and when I go to use the "Auto-Setup" the tests keep messing up in TWO separate ways.

1) It will run the initial ping target test, and then when it goes to start the other tests it will do NOTHING and say Test Complete! Best Settings Found with both the Download and Upload setting put to 100%, which is obviously going to be wrong.

OR

2) It will properly run the tests, as in it does the ping target test then it will do the blue upload and red download tests, which will happen a few times BUT it will instead stop mid test usually on Test 6 and sometimes on Test 3 where it just straight up stops doing anything at all where my only choice is to press Cancel cause it still says In Progress.

I tried to do a factory reset and even updated the firmware to the 1.1.0.22 one just to be sure and did a factory reset even after that and it still will not properly finish the Auto-Setup for Congestion Control.

  • The servers it uses are hardcoded into the router and they are old ones and so don't run very well if at all. I'd suggest testing with downloads while following: https://support.netduma.com/frequently-asked-questions/legacyfaqs/test-your-ping/ start with a high value e.g 95%, test, decrease 10%, test, decrease 10% etc, until you get to a value that is pretty good, then try 5% either side of that value to see if it can be improved. Important to note that Download/Upload on CC don't have to be the same value & you may have a better experience with differing values. This is more of a real world test.
