Connection issues XR500
Hi new member here could someone please give me any advice on the following my XR500 is dropping wifi quite frequently(both 2.4 & 5) I have factory reset it (f/w v2.3.2.66) but still the issues remai...
Hi it's connected to a Huawei HG612 modem I'm UK based BT is my ISP.
2.4g was on auto NOW changed to 6.
5g is on 44.
Smart connect is enabled with both settings turned on
I have a couple of neighbours with the internet as I live on a terrace.
Your ISP modem has a built in router and wifi. What mode is it operating in? Modem only or router. If router mode, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.
- It is in modem only what's annoying is that it has been working flawlessly for over a year its only since the firmware update its playing up I.e wifi dropouts alot & the laptop doesn't connect anymore over wifi.really frustrating & the wife isn't best pleased either lol
- Give your devices reserved IPs in LAN Settings as that may help. On the PC open command prompt, type ipconfig /release wait a few seconds then do ipconfig /renew and see if it sustains a connection.
- I've tried reserved ips still the same and get the same error unfortunately
- Okay upgrade to the beta and do a factory reset and see if it performs better then.
