Firmware xr1000 V.1

Need help windows 11 when I download the firmware I’m on .74 was going to 82 before stepping up to the latest but I was able to extract the file I think but not sure which to use.  I’m disabled and have no one smart enough to assist.  I work from home.  This is my fav router I’m hoping to get help.   Please anything anyone?

When the Firmware Update asks you to Browse and select the file, pick the one with the "chk" extension.

  • Last time I tried It booted off never came back on.  I power cycle and it came back with .74 firmware.   I have left it alone since.  Problem is it keeps loosing IPv6 and only way to get back is to power cycle.   Should I factory reset then try and upload the firmware?  Many thanks to you in advance

Do you loose IPv6 if you directly connect to the ISP modem/ONT?

Is IPv6 the only protocol that seems to fail?

If you disable it, does everything else work?

      How is IPv6 configured?

Using ISP IPv6 DNS or auto detected IPv6 DNS?

Which ISP are you connected with?

How was new FW applied to the router? Which browser did you use?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

  • You don't need to incrementally do the updates, you can just upgrade directly to .86. The router should allow you to check for a newer firmware version and allow you to upgrade without doing this but it's possible they haven't updated it yet. When you download the zip file and open it, extract/click and drag the .chk file out to your Desktop for example, then if possible connect via ethernet to the router - the getting booted off would like you being connected to WiFi and it disconnecting, being physically connected you can monitor the progress more easily. If WiFi is the only possibility try to reconnect to it as soon as you notice it disconnects. Once you've attempted the upgrade with the .chk file if it still shows as .74 after its possible the browser has cached the old version so press Ctrl + F5 on your keyboard to do a hard page refresh and see if it updates then. If not, reboot the router from the interface, then access as soon as you can and try to upgrade, if after following everything it's still not working then factory reset then try the upgrade.
