I'm not sure if this will help anyone

I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but my Nighthawk was red, but I noticed it needed an update.  After the update, the Internet light went Green.  It was curious because even with the Amber Internet light, we had internet.  FYI.

    What modem/gateway is it connected to? 

    You can get that with a double nat. 

    And if you're in a double nat, it can increase your ping/latency (reduced the benefits of a gaming router)
