A router has to be connected to a modem/router in order to give internet. So for your example you would either need to connect the router to the Virgin Hub in the same room and then run a long ethernet cable to the other room for your PC or run a long ethernet cable to your room to connect to the router and then connect to your PC. You could use a power line adapter to extend the wired network using the house wiring and then connect a router to the other side. However, in my experience this highly depends on your house wiring as to how effective this will be.
