Model XR500 question

Hi, I have a quick question about the XR500 i understand that to set up the internet on it you need to connect the XR500 to an existing WIFI service provider router but once the XR500 is connected to the WIFI does it constantly have to be physically wired to your existing internet or can it be moved after the first connection process is finished. This is all because I would like the XR500 to be in my room however my existing internet router is downstairs and i dont have a long enough LAN cable.
