Move my modem and router.. now router doesn't get internet

Good morning.

 

I moved my modem and router (nothing new, just moving it from one location to the next).  I have interent but when I plug the wan fromt the modem into the router it does not pick up internet?  Any thoughts or suggestions?  Again, all I did was move it from one location to another location in my home.

    What modem are you using? 

    Did you boot up in the proper order? 

    try this. power both devices off. 

    power on the modem first with nothing connected to it. give it a few minutes.

    the connect lan cable from modem to wan port on router. 

    then boot up router. 

    give it a few minutes

    then try it

      Just to double check, you need to have an ethernet cable going from the LAN on the modem to WAN on the router to get internet.
