I’m seeing the same issue on PS5 with multiple P2P fighting games. After a few matches, the games enter a ‘Connecting’ or ‘Checking Opponents Connection’ loop indefinitely. My wired connection is stable, UPnP is on, and port forwarding is set, so it seems like a NAT/session handling problem rather than a connection issue. Has anyone found a reliable workaround for these matchmaking loops?
Do you have an Open NAT? In most cases you won't need port forwarding and if the rules have been done incorrectly then this could make it worse. In WAN Settings set NAT to Open and see if that helps at all.
