What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What devices do you have all connected? Brand and model#
How is Basic and Advanced Wireless settings configured?
What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s). Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Hello,
I need some help pls. Im not a networking expert and dont really understand the technicalities around networking. However, I was having issues with buffering when I'm watching live live football matches on Nvidia sheild using an app called SmartSTB so I read online that these powerful routers can help.
I dont play games, I have all devices connected directly to my XR500 and my Nvidia Sheild is the only device connected to the XR via ethernet.
The problem I'm having is when a few devices such as bedroom tv, ipad, phones are streaing youtube, netflix etc as well as my Nvidia shield streaimg live football matches, it buffers alot. I have tried allocating 80% of my bandwidth to my Nvidia sheild and even disabled share excess but nothing works, it constantly drops speed to as low as 0.8mbps and that's when its starts buffering like crazy.
I would really appreciate any help with the correct settings. pls.

Thanks for your reply. To be honest I have no clue about most of the things you are talking about.
My ISP is Virgin and I have got a Virgin Media SuperHub 3 that is wired to my XR. All the devices are connected to my XR. All devices are connected via wifi except for my Nvidia Shield which is wired to XR.
Its this Nvidia Shield that i really need help with. The issue again is one minute its got enough bandwidth and the next minute it drops to 0.2mbps which then causes the live match Im streaming to start buffering.

Usually SuperHub 3s are modems with built in wifi and routers. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers

Thanks again for the response. I believe my set up is what you described in option 1 i.e the modem mode is checked in superhub and XR connected to it via an ethernet cable as the wifi router.
I have also attached screenshot of my qos page. Its worth noting that I have tried so many qos settings in congestion control, bandwidth allocation & traffic prioritisation. This is just what I have right now.
