I didn't see the XR1000 routwr in the link you shared, I checked the XR500 as the closes reference and didn't find this drive there unfortunately.

Does the HDD require any additional drivers be installed onto your PC for you to access it? If so, that won't work with ReadyShare, it needs to be completely plug-and-play as far as I'm aware.
What do you see when you go to enter \\readyshare into Windows Run?
