- Jul 20, 2023Looks like the issue for me is something to do with DHCP (yes I had the range set as 100-200) I set up my own DHCP server and set the lease time to 1 week and it's been stable ever since

For now YouTube seems stable. But clients on 2.4ghz and 5ghz randomly lose connection. This has happened 8 times today since my last reply.

Could you grab a log from the System Information page when that happens please?
- w0rmw00d6Jun 24, 2023TutorI have the log and know the times it has happened today. But the timestamps in the log are all over the place. Should I just post the log here and give the times?

I've attempted to fetch the relevant info. Hope this helps.

In LAN Settings, set the DHCP range to start at .50, then assign static IP addresses on thoughs devices between .2 & .49 so they're out of the DHCP range, apply, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes and see if that stops the disconnects.
Other than that, have you made any Traffic Controller rules, blocked a device in the Device Manager or made any changes in Settings to the site blocking feature? - w0rmw00d6Jun 24, 2023TutorWill do. I have not made traffic controller rules, I have not blocked a device in device manager and I have not made any changes to site blocking.
- Netduma-FraserJun 24, 2023NetDuma PartnerOkay no worries, make those changes and then see if that resolves it.
- w0rmw00d6Jun 24, 2023TutorSince applying the changes and waiting longer than two minutes, I've dropped WiFi twice. And one additional time just before posting this.
- Netduma-FraserJun 24, 2023NetDuma PartnerChange the WiFi mode on the 5GHz to 2400 please and see if that resolves it
- w0rmw00d6Jun 24, 2023TutorTried that and changing 2.4ghz mode, disable smart connect. Still getting frequent disconnects. It seems to only happen on 2.4ghz
- Netduma-FraserJun 25, 2023NetDuma Partner2.4GHz is more prone to interference, are there any devices within ~3 feet of the router, WiFi enabled devices, wireless headphones, a microwave etc. Is it on/in metal?
- w0rmw00d6Jun 25, 2023TutorIt is on my desk. When I first got it I made sure it wasn't near anything that could cause interference. I turned off smart connect and turned it back on and for 11.5hrs I had no drops until this morning. What's more interesting is it seems isolated to our mobile devices i.e. phones and tablets. The TV and smart lights are staying connected now.
- omegavolpeJun 25, 2023AspirantI'm been having the same problem after updating to this version firmware. I even downgraded to a previous firmware version and I'm still getting the same issue. The issue seems to resolve itself if you toggle the check box for the broadcast 2.4Ghz in WiFi setup (I think it turns WiFi off then on again). Again, this started occurring after applying this firmware update, and continued even after rolling back to XR1000 1.0.0.64_1.0.49 . Oddly, the devices will connect to 2.4Ghz or will still be connected, they receive an IP address but they do not get access to the internet. It feels like an internal firewall issue. I don't think interference is the root cause here, I have done a interference survey (Ekahau) and I don't have any issues in my home.
Restricting the DHCP range is a bandaid, all it is doing is limiting the number of devices you can connect automatically. If there is a hardware limitation then it should be officislly stated.
Settings in use:
DHCP unrestricted
IPV6 enabled
UPNP enabled
Congestion control auto enabled
No traffic controller rules set
Ad blocker disabled
Enabled AX is on
OFDMA in 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz off
Implicit BEAMFORMING on
MU-MIMO on
Smart connect off - Netduma-FraserJun 25, 2023NetDuma PartnerDue to the devices mentioned it may be the Private/Random MAC address options on the mobile devices themselves, if you disable that does it work as expected?
- w0rmw00d6Jun 25, 2023TutorI've already tried that before. It seems turning quick connect off then on might've fixed it. Haven't had anymore drops (fingers crossed).
- w0rmw00d6Jun 25, 2023TutorUnfortunately, I'm still dropping connection. Although much less frequent today. A handful today so far vs the 40+ yesterday.
- Netduma-FraserJun 26, 2023NetDuma PartnerAs a test could you make a guest WiFi network for 2.4GHz and connect the affected devices to it, do they then continue to disconnect?

Wondering if you downgraded FW back to one prior version?
- w0rmw00d6Jun 27, 2023TutorI have not done that yet
- Netduma-FraserJun 27, 2023NetDuma PartnerDoes there seem to be any pattern as to when it disconnects such as when there is heavy usage, using a specific service/application, being a certain distance away from the router etc.
- w0rmw00d6Jun 27, 2023TutorThere doesn't appear to be a pattern. It's sporadic.
- Netduma-FraserJun 27, 2023NetDuma PartnerIn the past we've seen some weird issues due to the SSID/Password, are you using any symbols in either of these?
- w0rmw00d6Jun 27, 2023TutorI have @ ! and $ in the password. SSID is letters.
