So let me ask this... when you say immediately around it.. you're meaning something in close proximity to the actual router? Because my routers used to always be in the basement.. with a couple of floors between it and the main floor... and I've never had issue with that in the past...
I will say, when I moved my router to a more centralized location.. it was moved into a closet... I suppose I can move it out of the closet and see what happens!
Yes that's right. Definitely move it out of the closest if possible and see if that improves the speeds. Ideally you don't want to have any wireless devices within 3 feet of the router and don't have the router on a metal surface as that can also interfere with the signal.
