According to many accounts, this is no surprise.
It's been an issues for several models coming up to this one. It also happens follows their severely out dated GUI. I'm discussed by my 7600 as well for the same issue. It just doesn't go away. Netgear seemingly refuses to fix this issue.

This is incredibly rare to happen on the XR500.
DJdubstep - do you know if your connection uses PPPoE (where you use a username and password to get online)?
If you haven't already, try rebooting your modem, then rebooting the XR500, and see if that then connects.
Worst case, give official NETGEAR support a call. They are very experienced at troubleshooting this initial Internet setup: https://www.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx
- DJdubstepJan 03, 2019AspirantI just found out that my isp does not use a PPPoE, but I also read something that I may need to release the dhcp of the old router, and give the new router access. Do you have any tips or ideas? I think this may be the issue, and I will report if this is successful.

That's something you would need to do on your modem. Do you know the make and model? Worst case just factory reset the modem (if it has the option to!)
