Region Lock how to change it FW version 2.3.2.40
I am from Chile(South America), I searched in the forums how to change the Region Lock but I didnt undertand how to do it via telnet.... the router was bought through Amazon.com, I have been facing a...
I think NETGEAR have the region lock in place to stop you adjusting WiFi to illegal levels, espeically in the US.
What are you trying to do exactly? What does having the region set to US prevent you from doing?

There is however more pun in the air.
European and Swiss authorities can (and will do if they find such units on imports by business or private parties) seize such products, and fine the importer (heavily!) - which isn't Amazon or Netgear then.
Netgear does obviously not want to burn their fingers selling products to the FCC market - thus these units sold in North America are not the common "world-wide" models which are sold with localised power supplies e.g. to Europe as XR500-100EUS - but locked down hard to the FCC resp. US and Canadian regulatory specs, and designated XR500-100NAS - all the wireless devices with the -[nnn]NAS are FCC units, and locked down.

It's interesting that Amazon does not leave a word on the certification - even if they mark products as "Eligible for Shipping to ..." pre-charging the estimated cost of duties and taxes (VAT, customs, handling) - the importer will still be the person or the business who is supposed to be the receiver.
No word here, they just refer that the "responsible for compliance with all export laws of that country or regions." Matter of fact, the customer is in charge for the compliance on the import already.
Complain to Amazon.com please - especially if the device is sold by Amazon. Wonder what they will come back with ... On one hand, they ruin lots of small local businesses and retailers, and on the other hand ... figure.
