Modem Combo Units:
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.
I would give option #2 a try...

Thanks for the reply, sorry for the late reply it's been a busy week. I really want to order some new equipment this week so just trying to establish the besy way to set this up.
Do you have BT Fibre and did you relace the smart hub with the Netgear Modem?
I have attached a diagram of exactly what i want to do, what do you think the best way to set this up would be?
Regards Lee.

You'll need to contact your ISP to see what can be done with the need of a modem or any ISP interface device that you can use with the XR router. Having two routers on the same network can cuase problems. Especially for gaming.
Modem only units are recommended for using with external router like the XR router.
