Well the NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming routers have DumaOS installed which allows you, among other things, to balance the devices on your local network so that even under heavy use, your son's gaming will not be interrupted.
This works by stopping any other device (say, your TV) from using so much bandwidth that packets are dropped. By leaving room on the network, your son's games will always have an instant response, and lag will be wiped out.
