Smart connect does automatically switch device based on signal/bandwidth but it doesn't always work the best. These could be instances like congested environments where there's a bunch of interference on 2.4ghz. In those situations, I'd recommend disabling it.

So I think what actually happened here is the 5Ghz band just stopped broadcasting again. I actually recall this happening before and I have the reboot the router to fix it. I think I may just go ahead and disable the feature so that I will know when this happens in future.
I guess it's a bug in the firmware.

- Netduma-FraserSep 11, 2020NetDuma PartnerThe beta is open now - the firmware has been removed for the moment but hope to get another version out soon so you could try that when it is available.
- Wolf0491Sep 11, 2020AspirantI didn't know they had beta firmwares. Are you saying the beta has a fix for what I described above?
- Netduma-FraserSep 11, 2020NetDuma PartnerNot necessarily but there are general fixes from us and NG, a new firmware can usually fix a whole host of problems. It's not available currently but keep checking back here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-DumaOS-3-0/bd-p/en-home-beta-npg-duma
