TRAFFIC CONTROLLER
Been having trouble with traffic controller, I use it for my son his phone's wifi gets cut off at 10pm but for some reason it never works his phones name keeps changing to unnamed device and his IP a...
I've done that but he seems to keep changing that setting on, Also he switches between 5g and 2.4g
Clever! Re-enable Smart Connect so there is just the one WiFi network to connect to, then doe the reboot/delete devices again like above, reconnect the phone and give it a reserved IP in LAN Setup. That will help but if he keeps enabling that Private Address feature there isn't much you can do due to the way that option works - a MAC address is a specific device identifier and that option randomizes this so to the router it looks like a completely new device is then connected. This would happen on any router unfortunately.
- Hey, I’ve just found out what he’s been doing it seems my son has been installing the Netgear app on his phone and unblocking his device from the wifi, Is there any way to stop this from happening, Im surprised this is even a thing anyone with that app can do stuff like that just by being connected to the internet?
- Very clever! Change the interface password to something more complex, that will stop him being able to login via the app. If after that you lose internet, he has probably factory reset it via the hardware so that it defaults back to the basic password. If you're unable to put it in a place out of reach then there isn't much you can do there apart from maybe sign him up for some Computer Science classes as he's clearly very bright!
