I was not getting the proper speed for a gig. Very slow. Luckily I had a cable guy that actually knew what he was doing and had the same router. First question he ask was did I change my ssid? And password. I told him yes. He said thats the problem. Something about Netgear and encryption. You have to use Netgears ssid and password on bottom of router. He was right. Full speeds and no issues. Tech support through Netgear didn’t even tell me that.

That doesn't sound right at all and doesn't really make much sense. So to clarify you were doing speed tests on WiFi not ethernet before and after changing WiFi name/password and it was higher when using the default WiFi name/password? No other WiFi settings or other settings were changed?
