You will have to explain that.
What are you doing?
What happens?
What error messages? And when?

I'm having the same issue XR1000 gaming router, I updated from .58 to .64 or whatever the newest version is.
Btw, factory resetting a router every time you update the firmware is completely ridiculous and unacceptable. That's the equivalent of asking a Windows 10 user to reset their PC every month after patch Tuesday. Was a huge mistake to buy this router in the first place, it's complete garbage. In the 18 months that I've owned it, this will be the 4th or 5th time I've had to factory reset it.
To make matters worse, the "backup" feature is completely broken. No matter what changes you make, and when you restore from a backup, it is still the default settings. Again, this thing is complete garbage, shame on you Netgear.

How did you reset from the interface or hardware button? What device/web browser are you using to access? - Zevas1993Apr 29, 2022TutorHonestly I agree, it's great when it works but only when. It wouldn't update when I searched through the router itself and I had to manually do it. The router has constant issues with the 5ghz too

That is why it is rarely needed/recommended.
A reset is sometimes required when new firmware adds significant features that are not compatible with the older version. (Same as when Windows screws up drivers.)
It may also be needed when there is a screw up in the new firmware. That's why a lot of people wait for the dust to settle before taking the leap. (They keep their eye on this place for early warning of possible issues.)
Then there are times when user error mucks things up and the victim has failed to preserve a backup of their configuration.
