Hello am trying to disable upnp to work with portfording but with upnp off it steel open ports

Could you try downgrading to this version: https://kb.netgear.com/000053241/XR500-Firmware-Version-2-0-0-28

Then upgrading to this version: https://kb.netgear.com/000061157/XR500-Firmware-Version-2-3-2-56

And see if that fixes the problem?

    Yes that would be a good idea, it would ensure there are no dodgy settings carried over between versions.
