what router for nighthawk cm1200 modem
what router should I use with this modem, I also am curious if there are any extra settings to help with latency. Also would getting my own nighthawk router help with ping?

Statement didn't really help at all.
If you're not looking at wifi, then just directly connect to the modem. Least amount of latency as its a direct connection.
If you're looking at running more then 1 device, then look at a gigabit router. And then again it comes back to details

The main concept 'm trying to ask is, would there be a point to get a nighthawk router on top of the modem, regarding to latency or does the router only matter for wifi and multiple devices.

it does add a bit of security and other features.

You are in the Pro Gaming section so that router range is what I would recommend as the QoS will eliminate any local congestion you would get.
