Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I ended up getting through to Netgear support and yes, I had already tried most of the suggested solutions. We ended up having to do a factory reset. I will never be using the app to block a device again!! So far it all seems to be running ok and the xbox is connected once again.

My son's Xbox One has stopped connecting to my wireless router - Netgear Nighthawk XR1000. It was connected for a few days after I set it up, then it just stopped. Not sure if it was because I blocked the internet access via the Nighthawk app the night before - but then I unblocked it via the app in the morning. After ringing support, they told me to uninstall and reinstall the app, then reboot the router and the xbox - which I did all that, but that didn't solve the problem. The app and router interface both say there is access to the xbox (it's no longer blocked), yet I still cannot get the xbox connected. The xbox does work when I use a mobile hotspot on my phone. No other devices having issues with internet connection. I have even created a traffic rule to allow all traffic to the xbox at all times, but that hasn't helped. As far as I can see, the XR1000 doesn't have the Access Control feature to block or allow devices, so I can't use that as a solution. At times I can even see the xbox on the router interface (device manager) and app, saying the xbox is connected, but the xbox still is not able to connect. We have a small house - so it's not because of range. I have tried switching the router to IPv6, but that made things worse. I have read about possibly having to create a static IP address on the router for the device, (which didn't work as I didn't know how to set this up properly) and port forwarding - but I am not that advanced with IT. Can anyone please help? It has been one week and I have been trying every day to sort this out.
