XR-500 and TP Link SG-105 wired connection issues

Hello,

I bought a XR-500 with the included EX7700, with an additional 7000, 7700, and 2 8000 extenders (house is old with wire mesh in the walls so WIFI signal is horrible).  WIFI works fine, at least seems to, the problem I have is the ports on the XR-500 itself.  I first tried to go from Spectrum's cable modem (I have 1 GB service) to a TP Link SG-105, to the XR-500, and couldn't get the XR-500 to connect to the internet.  The SG-105 is a unmanaged switch, basically a splitter...

I then was finally able to get the XR-500 to connect to internet, then from XR-500 put the SG-105 into play, and boom, had it working.  Lasted for about 4 days, now nothing from the SG-105. Have not rebooted the XR-500 yet but wanted to ask everyone for help.

Ideally I want this set up:

Spectrum modem (no wifi, one port)

TP Link SG-105 gigabit switch

      Desktop hardwired (two ports)

      Garage Hub hardwired

XR-500 hardwired about 20 ft away from the SG-105, connected to it's mesh minions...

I've updated the XR-500 and all the extenders to the most current firmware (.56 for the XR-500, not sure what firmware is for the extenders but they are all up to date as of November 2019) and they are all set to autoupdate.

I've read where firmware can be a major issue with this device... What is the best firmware I should be using in this situation?  Are there any other tips that need to be used, or suggestions?

Normal ideal standard networking set up will be like this:

Spectrum modem (no wifi, one port)

          XR-500 hardwired>

<TP Link SG-105 gigabit switch connected behind the XR router, not in front.

          <Desktop hardwired (two ports)

          <Garage Hub hardwired

There has to be a NAT router between the ISP modem and the switch and other devices.

If your seening problems with the SG switch, you may have a faulty switch. Try a differnet switch to see if problem still appears. I use HP, D-Link and a Netgear behind my router. No issues seen over the years.
