XR1000 - How to get public IP in double natted scenario
Sorry, my model wasnt listed in the Model dropdown. Its in the title. As the title states - I'm in a double natted scenario, where my old Router was able to log into my PPPoE internet and get a sec...

"Unless you are paying for two internet connections you'll only have one IP address. You can put the WAN IP of the XR found on the System Information page into the DMZ on the old router and that will resolve the double NAT. "
This is 100% incorrect. Some ISPs dole out additional IP addresses. Ive done it in the past easily, and just did it again now.

Is there a specific usecase for why you need two? The XR will not allow you to have multiple public IP addresses

I have one public IP with the router in front of it, and now another public IP for the XR - Im not using two on the XR. I'm doing work on an older web server where they have hard-coded my IP to allow me access. I didnt want to use the same IP for personal and business on their system.

Is that the mysterious "my old Router", above? And it's connected to
what, exactly?> [...] and now another public IP [address] for the XR [...]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Protocol
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_addressAnd how, exactly, are you connecting the XR1000 to your ISP, so that
it can get/use that "other public IP [address]"? I wouldn't expect the
XR1000 to be able to do that from the LAN side of your mysterious "my
old Router" (about which I still know nothing), if your mysterious "my
old Router" is doing NAT. - FURRYe38Aug 09, 2021Guru - Experienced User
This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.
