XR1000 LAN speed drop

Hello everyone.

I need a little help.

Here is my equipment:

CM2000 Nighthawk modem

XR1000 Nighthawk WiFi router

Nighthawk Extender

*All firmware is up to date. I did a proper reboot as per Netgear (modem then router then extender). Ethernet cables are all checked out to handle 2.5gigs. The Netgear app is all set to a default settings (I am not knowledgable enough to make changes). All equipment was bought new 4 months ago.

1) Modem CM2000 wired directly to my computer pushes 2.5 gigs.

2) Modem CM2000 wired to Router XR1000 then wired in ports 1 to 4 to my computer pushes 950mps.

3) Modem CM2000 wired to Router XR1000 then wifi to computer pushes 220 to 550mps

I need help on 2 things:

Why is my wired from router to computer less than half the speed of modem to computer and how do I fix it?

Why is my wifi speed 10% to 20% of what the modem is pushing to the router?

Appreciate your help.

Brant

Due to the WAN and LAN ports being only capable of 1Gb max. You will never see anything beyond 1Gb on this model router. Fix would be to get a different router that has higher connection rate support for both WAN and LAN ports, i.e. RS700.

Why is my wifi speed 10% to 20% of what the modem is pushing to the router?

Depends on Wifi adapter design and support and MIMO support. Most 2x2 wifi adapters and devices max out at around 300-500Mpbs on 5Ghz AX. 4x4 MIMO devices can do more than this.
