If you had to do that then possibly, in which case it'll just be easier to ask them directly if they use CG-NAT

Im gettin a static ip applied now as we speak there is a option on the nighthawk get ip dynamicaly from isp or use static ip address do i need to eneter it there? Or will it grab it by itself when i reboot router? Thanks
- Netduma-FraserApr 14, 2022NetDuma PartnerIt'll grab it by itself when you reboot, let us know if it resolves the issue!
- Farhad47Apr 14, 2022AspirantI have the static ip tracert is now showing only one line but my NAT is still Moderate with nat set to open instead of secured? Should i disable Upnp? Also what is sip alg should that be disabled too? I dont understand why my nat is Moderate still
- Netduma-FraserApr 14, 2022NetDuma PartnerNo need to disable UPnP, no need to toggle SIP ALG, it won't affect NAT. Where are you testing NAT exactly? Have you done any port forwarding rules?
- Farhad47Apr 14, 2022AspirantI am using xbox networking on windows and in warzone game...i jus plugged in the TP LINK router the ISP gave me and now i am getting open NAT on xbox networking and in game so its a issue with the Nighthawk for sure
- Netduma-FraserApr 14, 2022NetDuma PartnerIt's probably the Geo-Filter causing a misreading, disable before you boot up the game and it should appear open. If so then re-enable and ignore it if it says moderate from then on
- Farhad47Apr 14, 2022AspirantI have never setup geo filtering there is no device connected to it only changed vlan id to conect to internet and changed from secured to open
- Netduma-FraserApr 14, 2022NetDuma PartnerOn the Microsoft test, click fix it, then wait and retest, does it appear open then?
- Farhad47Apr 14, 2022AspirantNo still moderate on xr1000 but open on TP LINK
- Netduma-FraserApr 14, 2022NetDuma PartnerHave you made any port forwarding rules? As a test put the PC in the DMZ momentarily, see if it is open then but remove it once done as it is a security risk
- Farhad47Apr 21, 2022AspirantWhy does my QoS feature not work? Im trying to cap my speeds at 70%/70% but my download caps sometimes but my upload doesnt cap at all its gets the full 940mb and doesnt cap even if i put the slider to 10% no change
- Farhad47Apr 21, 2022AspirantAlso on the isp Tplink router i get only 1-2ms bufferbloat on download and upload but on nighthawk i get spikes 30ms-70ms on upload how is this even possible? Also NAT is till moderate on nighthawk but open on cheap tp link router...how is a £300 pound gaming router worse????

Is Congestion Control set to Always?
How are you testing the speeds? In Connection Benchmark or with a third-party speed test such as speedtest.net?
Do you know if you require PPPoE, VLAN or DHCP identifiers to connect to the internet?

- Farhad47Apr 22, 2022AspirantYes it set to always also tried set manually also auto setup...my download caps sometimes but upload doesnt at all i have tried speedtest.net and nperf tried factory reset updated latest formware i use VLAN id to connect and i have not tried DMZ i dont feel comfortable doing it incase i dont disable it properly but i dont see why it would need DMZ if it shows open on tplink without DMZ...also why do i get bufferbloat with nighthawk but none with tplink even tho my speeds are not capped on tplink...the only thing i noticed is on nighthawk i get extra 40mb on download/upload
- Netduma-FraserApr 22, 2022NetDuma PartnerVLAN is likely the reason the upload isn't working properly, that's something we're aware of. If you have the TP handle VLAN, then connect the XR to it and put the XR in the TP DMZ then upload will work and that should resolve the bufferbloat as well, maybe even the speed.
- Farhad47Apr 22, 2022AspirantThis might sound dumb but how do i connect XR to TP just ethernet port to ethernet? Or ethernet to the internet port? Should i remove the vlan id from nighthawk? Also how do i do this 'put the XR in the TP DMZ' is it the mac address?
- Netduma-FraserApr 22, 2022NetDuma PartnerBasically yes, the TP would connect to your modem so modem LAN port to TP internet port. Then TP LAN port to XR internet port. Then setup VLAN on the TP and verify you get internet then remove VLAN on the XR.
It depends how the TP does the DMZ, they may very well use the MAC address or use an IP address, in which case you can copy the WAN IP from the XR System Information page and put that in the TP DMZ.
DMZ is usually found in LAN, Security or Firewall settings
