XR1000 Packet Loss while gaming
Hello, I recently bought this router so I could connect to lower ping servers from my area, Ohio. My current internet speeds are 400 mbps Down and 20 mbps Up. I'm still learning all of the QoS funct...
- Jun 15, 2021Okay that's good, the router doesn't appear to be reporting any packet loss so it could be the server itself. When you notice the packet loss, try forcing a different server with the Geo-Filter and see if it disappears.

Hello, Liam.
Currently still testing things. So far, I started with direct connection to modem. No issues. I reconnected to router with and without QoS and I was still getting some packet loss (In traffic Prioritization, I switched off my ports and used Duma Classified and still had 95% loss) I decided to factory reset router and go through all the steps. I started off by turning off QoS, NAT Filter to Open, Auto Config/ Dectect IPv6, UPnP On. So far with no QoS, I have no issues. I'm gonna play a little bit longer with no QoS. Soon I will turn it on and use Duma Classified traffic with Congestion set to Never. Then use Auto Enable. I'll keep you updated with the results.

OK, interesting so far. Thanks for the update, let us know your results when done and we can look into it further!

Okay so I just got 95% loss with no QoS. I checked my router logs and I'm getting DoS attacks from many different IP's (Fraggle) I checked a few forums and it seems this is very common with Netgear routers and users are unable to know if these are false positives or real. I also found many users disable Port Scan and DoS Protection on these routers. Any suggestions? If DoS is causing this, I highly doubt QoS and traffic prioritization was the cause.
- Netduma-FraserJun 15, 2021NetDuma PartnerIt's unlikely they are causing the issues as they are very common, though if it is happening consistently all the time it could be. What is the model of your modem that the XR is connected to?

The reason I say this is because when my game hits that high packet loss, the router logs it at that exact time. Now, the logs have consistant DoS attacks. The modem is provided by Spectrum. Model EN2251 DOCSIS 3.1.
