XR1000 router login and firmware not working
Hey all,
Any idea on how to fix my XR1000, anytime we have a power cut the router fully resets to "NETGEAR & NETGEAR 5G". Worst still is opening the wifi removing any passwords, essentially opening up newtork for anyone in the area to use.
The app is about as useful as a wet paper bag as putting passwords back on, just result in a frozen screen.
But it's now resetting without a powercut. I checked my router last time I could actually get in via web and it said there was no update. But i found one on the Netgear website but its downloaded as a .chk file and opens in note pad and nothing else.
Any advice this is getting exhausting. Or Im just a noob who should've stuck to the cheap routers from IP lol

You don't open the firmware file. You upload it to the router.

Factory reset the router and set up from scratch using a wired PC and web browser?

- As above for upgrading but setup everything then reboot the router via the interface, this should act as a hard save and prevent it resetting upon loss of power.
