Netgear's standard update process makes it almost impossible to apply the wrong firmware to a device.
While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers - NETGEAR Communities
Gaming routers have their own DumaOS operating system that is nothing like the one on Netgear's standard routers.
I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

Unfortunately due to the issues I've encountered with this router since purchasing it and having a replacement sent out I decided to roll back firmware when I had a power outage in my area.
This ended up bricking the unit due to my advanced technical knowledge I attempted to recover with a file that got flashed by accident off a site saying it was the unbrick file, I later discovered that this was some advanced tomato file which changed my board id and cfe my router now thinks its an R6400 V2.
I have telnetted the device and used tftp along with putty etc however have had no success if I was to have known that it was tomato I would have backed up my cfe beforehand, I need the cfe to allow all the correct offsets to be established as I cannot flash original NetGear due to after flashing i cannot access the router login as it is blocked.
If I can get the original cfe file then I should be able to recover back to the original xr300 firmware and get it operational again.

Good luck. Maybe you were being ironic, but it is hard to see how "advanced technical knowledge" and "later discovered that this was some advanced tomato file" go together.
There are ways to tell your hardware to think that it is something else – I did that when beta testing the first XR router – but this is not the place to go into that.
The DumaOS people are very good at responding . So you should talk to them. But even they may not work over the weekend.
- Netduma-FraserMar 06, 2022NetDuma PartnerAs above you can tell the router it is something else but you would need to contact Netgear support directly about this as it's not something we should be giving out so they may do it remotely for you

I have the same issue with an XR300 reporting as an R6400v2 after applying dd-wrt firmware.
I would like to return my XR300 back to DumaOS however the R6400v2 identification seems like it's preventing DumaOS from loading.
On the NetDuma admins advice, I logged a Netgear Support call and was advised that they are unable provide support after I applied third-party firmware.
Can one of the NetDuma admins direct message me with the procedure to change identification back to the XR300?
I can also provide the details of the Netgear Support call if required.

There is not much that anyone here can do to help to recover a device that you have flashed with third party firmware.
There are not many people here who know about that stuff. Netgear doesn't support it and that sort of move will break the warranty.
Your best bet is to visit the place where they support dd-wrt. I didn't even know that they worked on things like the XR300.
