It might not be possible to eliminate the double NAT then, if we use the ISP router.
So in order to get the Draytek working, we need PPPoE to work on the XR500, which it doesn't seem to be.
I think you may need to get in contact with Netgear support directly for this one, although it sounds like you've already done that.
Are you certain that there's no way to set PPPoE login details on the draytek itself?

thanks for the reply.
I've spoken to Netgear and they can't sort it out so have asked me to send the router to them to see if it has a fault.
The draytek definitely can't set up PPPOE. It just sends all the information straight through.
I'll see what Netgear come back with.
thanks for your help though

Hi,
I am having very similar problems although with a different ISP.
The Draytek Vigor 130 connects fine on its own, but when I place it into Bridge mode and plug the XR in it returns an authentication error.
Did you get any resolution from Netgear with your problem?
I am wondering if it may relate to a TLS 1.0 conflict between the devices?
ie. Enabled on one not on the other?
- Netduma-FraserJun 03, 2020NetDuma PartnerWhere are you seeing this error? Do you know if you need to use PPPoE, VLAN or DHCP 60/61 with your ISP?

Hi I originally spotted an authentication error in the logs, but no longer seeing this.
Vast detail in log so may have missed it.
ADSL2 line from ISP - PPoA to modem.
Vigor in bridge mode (MPOA)
not sure of correct encapsulation for this. Bridged IP LLC default.
Router is set to PPoE always on.
No VLAN tags required Manx Telecom the ISP.
Not aware of any DHCP 60/61 config. and haven't set any.
Many thks for response.

Sorry no Netgear weren't able to help.
They sent me a new router but the same problems occurred. Spent another few hours on the phone with their tech support and couldn't fix the issue.
They then arranged for their most senior person to contact me as they went through everything they could (many hours in total on the phone to them).
They then never contacted me.
Have had no resolution and now have had to set up the router as AP only just so I can have the internet back. Massive waste of money

Cheers for the update.
I feel your pain.
(Seems like remarkably poor service for such a trusted name in networking kit).
