XR500 Geo-Filtering not working for COD
Just recently I noticed my games have been crazy lagging. I only play COD on my PC. I live about 50 miles (give or take) from the Chicago server. The server is trash so I pick a server in northern...

Ok,
Power levels look good.
However there are some Correctables that the modem is having to adjust for which should be mostly zeros. So its having to do some corrections on the signal line. Points to something on the ISP signal line up to the modem..
Any Criticals, Errors or Warnings seen in the event logs needs to be reviewed and resolved by the ISP. Indicates a signal issue on the ISP line up to the modem.
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, loose connections, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON.

The modem is in my front room about 2ft from the router, the PC is about 4ft from the modem. If you are looking at my set up from left to right it is PC, router, modem.
I do have a splitter on the line so that I can have cable. The coaxial from the wall connects to a splitter then one line goes to the cable box in the front room, one line goes to the modem in the front and then one line goes to the cable box in my bedroom. I have had Xfinity out here countless times. They have replaced the splitter and have replaced the line that goes from the box to my apartment. I know they did it because I was here and watched them replace it lol I have called them multiple times and they have been out here multiple times but they say there are no issues with the line and the signal is good. I called about 4 months ago (Netgear told me the same thing you are telling me) because of the critical errors, etc. They said they didn't know what they meant but when doing a test on the line everything came back excellent or something along those lines.
I bought Cat6 ethernet cables back in December 2021. I had issues back then so I was advised in a forum on here to replace the cables. I copy and pasted the link in the forum and whoever replied from NetGear said they were good, so I bought them.
I only have my PC and Golden Tee machine plugged into the router. The Golden Tee machine is usually powered off so when I'm done playing, I just delete it from Device Manager. When I do use it though, I have never had an issue with staying connected to the internet while I am playing.
I play Mech Arena on my PC and Whiteout Survival through Bluestacks on my PC. I never have connection issues with those either.
My phone and bedroom TV use the 5G Wifi signal and my air purifier uses the 2.4 Wifi signal. No issues with connection on them either.
I also have a tablet that uses the 5G but I only use it a handful of times a year so it is offline in Device Manager most of the time.

The issues at the modem will need to be addressed fully so once that is done, then the router will be getting a good signal from the modem.
Might try a different modem as well, however if the signal on the line is bad, then different modem may exhibit same and pass on bad signals to the router.
Might ask the ISP to separate the line from there box so you have one line to the modem and another for your TV services. Splitters can cause issues.
Good Luck.

Thank you for trying to help but there is nothing Xfinity will do since the line always shows good.
I'm not very technical but how would it just be bad for the sole purpose I bought it for, playing COD.
If I didn't play COD, I would have stuck with the much cheaper modem/router combo. I bought it and it didn't work any better with COD than the Xfinity provided one.
I bought the XR500 router and CM700 in August of 2020. I upgraded from the CM700 to the CM1200 because in a forum they said the CM700 couldn't handle gig internet. I upgraded to the CM1200 modem in December of 2021.
It seems like everything works fine for about 4 months then I come in here, I get help, it works fine for about 4 months then I'm back in here again.- FURRYe38Jul 28, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Would be an issue with the modem and the signal on the line.
Try a different modem to see if problem tracks.
