XR500 Geo-Filtering not working for COD
Just recently I noticed my games have been crazy lagging. I only play COD on my PC. I live about 50 miles (give or take) from the Chicago server. The server is trash so I pick a server in northern...

Will the XR1000 handle the 2 gig speed? Looking through the specs it looks like it will only handle 1 gig. All I have connected to the LAN ports in my PC and my arcade game. I want to make sure my PC will get the 2 gigs or it wouldn't be worth upgrading the router or my internet speed.

No it won't, the only one possible could be a second hand XR700 - there are no other possibilities that also have the Geo-Filter. What are you wanting to use the 2gigs for exactly?

I download movies so the faster the download speed the faster I can download them. If none of your routers can handle that speed then I won't upgrade. I know it will save me $5 on my cable bill but it would be pretty pointless to have the speed and not be able to utilize it lol

If you want to see ISP speeds over 1Gb, you'll need a router that can handle that.
Most newer NG RS series and Orbi AXE and BE series offer both WAN and LAN ports with 2.5Gb or higher speeds.
The XR700 doesn't have a WAN port that supports over 1Gb, however it does have a SPF port that if you had a 10Gb ethernet to SPF adapter, could see over 1Gb, however the rest of the LAN ports are only 1Gb so you'll not see much past 900Mbps there. Might see over 1Gb on the WiFi however would be up to connected devices to also support 4x4 mimo. Otherwise wireless, you'll not see much over 500-700 on the radios.

I will just stick with the XR500 and gig internet until you guys come out with a gaming router than supports more than a gig.
Thanks for your assistance 🙂 - FURRYe38Nov 26, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Highly doubt NG will be doing anymore gaming routers. Too many competitors. You might seek something that Net Duma might have.
