XR500 Troubleshooting Connecting to Verizon LTE Network Extender

I keep getting an error message when trying to finish the initial setup for a Verizon LTE Network Extender, "Server Error 5A, please check user guide, the lte network extender has failed to get certificate from the cmp server, please check the lan/firewall settings, or contact your network admin."

I'm waiting to hear back from my ISP, SuddenLink.

In the meantime, I have added port forwarding to ports 53, 500, 4500, 52428 as per the Verizon user guide for the Extender. I am unable to forward port 123 as recommended because I get an error message, "The specified ports are being used by other configurations."

I have setup a LAN to the Extender's IP address.

What else can I try? The router has open NAT for xbox gaming, if that matters.

  • Most likely UPnP has reserved the port for something, you don't actually need to port forward to the extender in most circumstances
