XR700. When setting this device up is there a need for a modem?

I have Verizon Fios service and they allow me to use my own equipment. I've plugged directly into my XR700 as a point of entry without a modem. Do I need a modem with this device?

      To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. How do I find this information?

      Usually you do need a modem.

       

      Does your ISP router have a built in modem? If it does, that suggests that a modem is required.
