Adding to Orbi RBR40

I have the Orbi RBR40 router with two wall plug satellites.

Am I able to add another Orbi router and which ones can I add? Would like to add another router to opposite side of house where I have a satellite and move satellite to patio.

Thanks!

You plan to run two routers on the same network? Could cause problems.

Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local problems with address on your network. Among other things, the other router can misdirect addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual default IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.

This explains some of the other drawbacks.

One way round this is to put the second router into Access Point mode. But that would break the Mesh.

The RBR40 is an early generation device. You may not be able to buy new hardware that will play nicely with it.

If possible, you could try rearranging the existing devices, moving the existing router to a more central location.
