Can't connect to Orbi WiFi Network
Hi everyone, I can't connect to the Orbi WiFi network. I have run through the setup process, there is internet (on both smart phone and laptop), but the orbi app cannot detect the network. Says: ...

power off the modem and the router. unplug everything from both including coax. Then follow this bootup guide.
1. re-connect coax to modem.
2. power modem on with nothing but coax and power plugged in. Wait 2-3 minutes for it to fully boot and stabilize.
3. connect ethernet cable to Orbi router wan port
4. power on orbi. give it a 2-3 minutes to fully boot.
5. hardwire in a desktop/laptop to the router and follow the setup guide.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ran all the steps as you indicated, but am afraid this didn't work either. I get the same problem. I get the Orbi_setup open WiFi, but I cannot get connected via the app. So I can't install a password on the network either.
Hardwired laptop says there is no internet. When I run the troubleshooter, it says that ""Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP address". This is the same after following all the disconnect/reconnect steps you advised. But thanks for the help in any case, I appreciate it a lot.
Any other ideas?

did you try resetting both the router and the modem?

Hi again,
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried resetting both modem and router, it didn't work. Then I went back to the store and got a new router - same model. The same problem persists. I get WiFi in the sense that I can go online via phone and laptop, but the app doesn't recognize the Orbi Network. So I cannot complete the installation and - most importantly - I cannot install a password on my network.
Given that there is WiFi, I take it there is no problem with the model or internet connection. My old router also still works, albeit slow and not always reliable. Given that two different Orbi routers have exactly the same problem, it seems there is no problem there too. I double checked, there is no second router in the house, so it cannot be a bridge problem either. Now I am completely at a loss.

Usually if 2 routers are having the same issue, it points to a different device being the issue. not always but its worth investigating.
Either the modem, cables connecting, or even device setting up.
