Alas, no one can help because the Android Orbi app is broken. (defective, disfunctional, f**ed up).
The latest version of the Android app (2.20.2.506) does this to everybody, no matter which type of Android device (phone, tablet) or which version of Android the device runs. The forum gets at least a dozen posts every day on this topic.
The only users who can use the app are those who had enabled Anywhere Access before this version got installed. For them, the app connects through the Netgear 'cloud' and functions normally. Since Anywhere Access can be enabled only when connected locally to the router, everybody else is .... (select euphemism of your choice)
Netgear reps have posted that Netgear is working to release a new version which will fix the app. There is no estimated time. When Google Play says, "app update available", then we'll know.

The Orbi iOS app that was updated a few days ago still will let you enable Anywhere Access. This is one of the reasons I purchased the Orbi 960.
