ORBI App does not ask for Local Network access permission with IOS 14.2 so can't use the app at all
It appears that there is a problem with IOS 14.2 either as a new OS issue for asking for Local network access or the app is not doing it. Can not use the app at all because of this.
- Sep 21, 2020Reinstalled several times with the same issue. BUT, I stumbled upon a fix: I installed the nighthawk app and when I installed it did ask for permission for local network access. Because I don’t have a nighthawk, I got the same error/issue but then when I deleted the nighthawk app and reinstalled the orbi app, it worked and asked for local network access. So, my problem is solved and maybe this will work for someone else.

My recommendation is to delete the Orbi AND Netgear appliations from Phone. Restart the phone and then install Orbi app only. This seemed to work for me when there is only just the Orbi app and it is launched for the very 1st time.

Absolutely assine that there is no functional solution on this tread that works. Local Area Network access option has NEVER once shown up on iOS 14.2. I've removed (deleted) it, installed the Orbi app 10 times, rebooted the phone, said yes in their dialogue but the option has never shown up. Glad I spent hundreds on this thing that won't work and clearly the vendor doesn't pay attention to threads with THOUSANDS of views which are clearly frustrated end users with the same problem.

If you dont have nighthawk app there that is not the issue, then connect a laptop with cable directly the router and access the web interface and you can configure them there on forst instance.
Also be Sure you dont have any VPN software running on your phone.

I gave up with the app entirely. Just remove it/delete it, and surf to the management IP given to the router and follow the wizards there. At least that was semi-functional.
